Jered Taylor, who served eight years as State Representative for Missouri’s 139th House District as a Conservative Republican, announced that he is running for Christian County Presiding Commissioner. The seat is currently held by fellow Republican and former State Representative Lynn Morris.
“Serving in the Missouri House showed me the positive impact I can make by serving Christian County residents,” Taylor said. “I fought government waste and cut red tape in Jefferson City, and I’ll keep doing that as Presiding Commissioner.”
First elected to the Missouri House in 2014, Taylor chaired the Government Oversight Committee and the Downsizing State Government Committee, served as Vice-Chairman of the Appropriations-Budget Subcommittee and the General Laws Committee, and was elected by his colleagues to chair the Conservative Caucus. He championed legislation to protect Second Amendment rights, let Missourians keep more of their earnings, cut bureaucratic red tape, and strengthen small businesses.
A successful small business owner, Taylor wants to position Christian County to grow. “I want Christian County to be business friendly,” he said. “With great access to roads, rail, and air freight, this is where people want to live and do business. I want to make sure government isn’t the reason developers look to expand elsewhere.”
Taylor has lived in Christian County for 20 years and has invested in it for decades. “There are clear differences between me and my opponent,” he said. “I’m a proven conservative and an effective legislative leader, and I’m not new to the area—I’ve raised my family here, unlike my opponent, who has lived in the county for one year. I understand the county’s needs and have built relationships that will benefit Christian County directly. I’ll be ready on day one, with no learning curve.”
