John Benson Lile

Ben Lile, a devoted husband, father, and larger-than-life figure who could command a thousand men one day and cradle a newborn with the gentlest touch the next, passed away unexpectedly on April 2, 2026, at the age of 48.

Ben lived a life defined by resilience, leadership, and an unshakable ability to turn every negative into a positive. Whether at the farm, on a jobsite, or in the quiet moments at home, he embodied the spirit of adaptability and strength. He would be the man to give you the shirt off his back. A true jack of all trades, he could fix anything, build anything, and lead anyone. Even when a trade went south or plans fell apart, Ben found a way to win. He had an uncanny knack for flipping setbacks into comebacks that left those around him inspired and grateful.

Ben shared a deep and loving marriage with his wife, Jodi Lile. Together, they recently purchased a new property and were incredibly excited about moving in and building their future there. The new chapter filled them both with anticipation and joy as they looked forward to the years ahead.

As a father, Ben was unmatched. He was a hero to his oldest son, Koty. And to quote his youngest son, Chewy, "He was a great dad!" He poured his heart into raising his children with the same intensity he brought to every other part of his life. Tough but fair, he could deliver an ass-chewing that would straighten your spine and, by the end of it, leave you thanking him for the lesson. His rough hands told the story of a lifetime of hard work, yet they carried the softest touch, especially when it came to family. Behind a hard exterior beat a heart of pure gold, full of quiet compassion and deep love.

Ben was eagerly awaiting the arrival of his two grandchildren, one boy and one girl, who were on the way. He often spoke with pride and excitement about the next generation, already planning how he would teach them the same values of strength, honor, and turning life's challenges into victories.

Ben Lile will be remembered as the man who could do it all, love fiercely, and lead with both iron will and a tender soul. A celebration of life will be held at 640 Brown Springs Road, Marionville, Mo. 65705 on Saturday, April 18th at 4 p.m. In true Ben fashion, we simply ask that you take a moment to turn a negative in your own life into a positive.

You taught us all how to win, even when it looked like we were losing. Rest easy.

Ben is survived by his wife, Jodi Lile; his sons Koty Lile, Matthew, Dominik, and Campbell Tackett; his daughters Ashley Lile and Hannah Tackett; his parents Carol Sue and Rex Capshaw, as well as Cheryl Lile, and his brothers Skip and Courtney Lile, Cody and Becky Lile, and Nathan Lile.

Other surviving relatives include his Uncle Matt and Aunt Susie, and his cousins Seth Lile, Steven and Tiffany Lile, and Sam and Alisha Woody, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other extended family, and countless friends.

Ben was preceded in death by his father, Larry Mack Lile.
