So much for head-to-head being the cure-all and end-all.

Class 3 District 11 girls coaches contradicted traditional seedings voting by their colleagues by ignoring a head-to-head matchup in their seeds selection.

Sparta find itself seeded No. 3 and behind No. 2 Strafford, despite beating the Lady Indians in their only meeting. On top of that, the Lady Trojans are 16-7 and the Lady Indians 16-8.

Sparta will meet No. 6 Pleasant Hope (7-15) in the first round. The District will run from Feb 19-23 at Springfield Catholic.

Defending Class 3 state champion Fair Grove (17-7) is the No. 1 seed. The Lady Eagles are 8-6 since starting the season 9-1. They have played nine games in a row against an opponent with a winning record.

Fair Grove and Strafford meet this week.

Springfield Catholic (11-12) is the No. 4 seed and Forsyth (11-11) No. 5.
