In absolutely stunning news, Ozark is searching for a new football coach following the resignation of Jeremy Cordell on Wednesday, AD Yancey Little confirmed Thursday afternoon.

"Coach Cordell resigned Wednesday morning and the search for his replacement has begun," Little said.

Postings for the vacancy were posted on the school’s website,  MissouriTeachingJobs.com and various other job sites.

Cordell was affable and well-liked while recording a 9-24 W-L record during his three-year tenure with the Tigers. Ozark has had just one winning season dating back to 2018.

Ozark is due to welcome back the great majority of its offensive skill players next season, after the offense averaged 31.3 points per game last season.

In a span of four months, Ozark has lost arguably its two most popular coaches. Soccer coach Zack Owens resigned in March.

Cordell’s son, Anthony, was a junior running back for Ozark last season and rushed for 834 yards, in addition to catching 24 passes for 283 yards.

Similarly, Chad Depee resigned as Ozark’s football coach in 2022 prior to his son Gage’s senior year.

The Tigers’ next coach is due to inherit many established players at the varsity level, a list that also includes running back Jett Easley, linebackers Braxton Bell, Lucas Kronebusch and Stanley Brice, defensive end/tight end Hendrix Haymes, wide receivers Mereck Putt and Westin Samson,  defensive backs Cade Morrison and Lucas Hanks and linemen Isaiah Collins, Preston Essary and Jacob Beasley.

Statewide, there have been 68 head football coaching jobs open up since the end of last season. That includes six changes at Class 6 schools.
