Norbert Roy Laengrich

Norbert Roy Laengrich, age 88, of Ozark, Mo., passed away peacefully on Jan. 8, 2026, at his home. Norbert was born to Oscar Carl and Hazel Neda Laengrich on July 3, 1937, in Jones City, Okla. He was raised in Jones and later moved to Checotah, Okla., where he graduated from high school in 1956. Norbert married Mamie Lucille Tillery on Aug. 10, 1968, in Carlsbad, N.M. Norbert and Lucille shared many years of marriage until her death on Nov. 20, 2014. Norbert proudly served in the United States Army from Aug. 21, 1956, to July 31, 1962.

Norbert was blessed with seven children which included three girls, Linda, Shelly, and Debbie and four sons, Carl, Anthony, Kenny, and Charlie. Additionally, he was blessed with eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Norbert had one sister, Doris, who added five nieces and nephews, eight great-nieces and nephews and eight great-great-nieces and nephews to his family. Norbert was also blessed with a special poodle named Angel, who provided him with companionship and joy.

At the time of his death, Norbert was still working as a volunteer two days a week at Global University in the Prison Ministry Outreach. Norbert also delivered meals to the “elderly” – most of whom were younger than him. Prior to his retirement, Norbert worked in the Computer Technology field for more than 50 years. At the time of his retirement, he was the President of EPI (Embedded Performance) out of Santa Clara, Calif.

Norbert was raised in a small town in Oklahoma and often dreamed of traveling. In his adult life, Norbert was able to travel all over the world. He and his wife enjoyed several trips abroad including favorites such as London and Israel. Norbert and Lucille were also able to take cruises to many ports of call in many parts of the world. Norbert recently said the only cruise he never completed and wished he had was an Alaskan spring cruise.

A visitation for Norbert was held on Thursday, Jan. 15, at Central Assembly of God in Springfield, Mo. A funeral service was held for Norbert on Friday, Jan. 16, also at Central Assembly of God. Following the funeral, Norbert was laid to rest with full military honors in a private burial service for family only at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Norbert’s memory to Global University Prison Ministries.
