Tigers not able to slow Joplin passing attack

A year after totaling seven touchdowns and 51 points in a win at Joplin, Ozark couldn’t keep pace with the Eagles Friday and fell 42-7.

The Tigers’ lone touchdown on the night came on a 13-yard run by quarterback Jace Easley with 1:50 play in the first quarter to make it a 14-7 ball game.

But Joplin broke away, as quarterback Always Wright threw for 287 yards and three touchdowns and halfback Bruce Wilbert added a 63-yard scoring strike.

The Eagles converted on fourth down twice en route to scoring on their first drive. They went on put up touchdowns on their first four possessions.

Ozark was guilty of a lost fumble and an interception in the first half.
