Former Nixa coach Jay Osborne has Springfield Catholic in the Class 4 District 10 championship game and has added to his list of awards.
Heading into the post-season, Osborne was tabbed the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) Region Five Coach of The Year last weekend. Region Five includes Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, North Dakota and Minnesota.
No. 2 seed Catholic (14-13) will meet No. 1 seed Versailles (20-6) with a District title on the line Friday at Eldon.
“We have a chance,” Osborne said of the Irish winning a championship. “It’s been a lot of fun this year, great kids and a joy to coach.”
With a career W-L record of 689-259, Osborne will look to join the 700 club next season.
