Gloria Helen Kilmer, age 89, of Rogersville, MO passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2024, in her home after a battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 18th, 1935 at home in Bruner, MO to Samuel and Maggie Holt. She was the fourth child of eight children, two girls and six boys. She accepted The Lord Jesus as her Savior at an early age and in her later years attended Harmony Baptist Church in Rogersville. more

Melissa Venable, accused of allegedly lying about her place of residency before running for Mayor of Billings earlier this year, has resigned as mayor, according to a press release dated Monday, Dec. 23 from Venable’s attorney, Taylon Sumners-Schwartz. Sybil Paulette (Salchow) Phillips was born in Vallejo, California, but raised in Billings, Missouri. After graduating from Billings High School, she moved to Springfield, where she worked various jobs. Paulette was instrumental in allowing women to serve as police officers in Springfield, Mo., and served as the Springfield Police Department’s first female police officer from 1974 to 1982. After leaving the SPD, she attended Wedgewood Beauty School and worked as a beautician until the death of her sister Sue in 1985. She then worked for MOCIC as a Criminal Analyst before retiring. more

It was Christmas morning. The kids were still in bed. They had all been to their church Christmas Eve service the night before. Rescheduled from its original date due to the Nixa Eagles’ state championship football game, the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony kicked off the holiday season in Nixa on Sunday, Dec. 8 at McCauley Park. Mayor Jarad Giddens lit the 26-foot tree, and guests enjoyed hot chocolate and cookies while listening to songs from the Nixa Public School choirs. The City of Nixa held its annual Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 8. The event included marching bands, colorfully decorated floats, vintage vehicles, and lots of candy. more

The City of Ozark held its Friday Night Lights Christmas celebration in the historic city square on Friday, Dec. 13. The CIty lit up the square with thousands of Christmas lights and hosted several attractions, including a Christmas train, musical performances by student choirs and bands, photo ops, a First Responders Display contest and a visit from Santa Claus! Children at the event were able to meet Santa and give him their Christmas letters. more
