REPUBLIC — Ryan Engel hopes his senior season plays out as well as his workouts in the weight room went over the spring, summer and fall and his visit to a tattoo parlor turned out.

Hudson Roberts was glad Ozark tipped off at 4 p.m. at the Republic Tournament on Wednesday, allowing him to watch Arkansas tip off against Duke at 8:30 that night.

REPUBLIC — With Park Hill South all but spotting Ozark and Hudson Roberts eight points, the Tigers went on to win by eight, 66-58, at the Republic Tournament on Wednesday.

WILLARD — Lane Meltabarger probably summed up best what Nixa coaches, players and fans were projecting from the Eagles’ post players in their season-opener Wednesday. 

Nixa safety Spencer Ward finished his senior season this year with 157 tackles, which ranks as the highest single-season tackles total in coach John Perry’s four seasons with the Eagles. 

Lane Mendenhall is no stranger to Mid-Lakes Conference honors, having received honorable mention recognition as a sophomore at tight end. But few could have predicted the Clever senior’s selection as a quarterback this year.
