In the article titled “As Piccolo rebuilds, community shows support,” which appeared in the Aug. 6, 2025, edition of Christian County Headliner News, it was stated that Piccolo would reopen in March. This was incorrect; Steve D’Arpino, owner of Piccolo, said the restaurant is expected to open in August. The editor sincerely regrets the error. more

Also, on hand to help welcome the new teachers as they entered the Ozark Schools Innovation Center were members of the Pride of Ozark Marching Band, Ozark Cheerleaders, High School JROTC Color Guard and members of the Ozark Football team. more

About a month after a car crashed into it, Piccolo, an Italian restaurant in Nixa, remains closed as repairs proceed on the building. However, while customers currently can’t eat in the restaurant, several of them are showing their love for the business and its staff by buying gift cards and contributing to a GoFundMe page set up to support Piccolo’s employees. more

The Christian County Sheriff's Office was actively involved in the capture of a man who allegedly murdered his pregnant wife and unborn son. According to a press release by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sidney F. Wilson, V, of Stoutland, Mo., was captured at a Nixa address on Thursday, July 31, by the member of Operation Relentless Pursuit, with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. more
Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole was recently presented with the Defender Award by the American Constitutional Rights Union (ACRU). According to a press release from the ARCU, the award is given to law enforcement officers who “honor their constitutional oath to protect and to serve by working cooperatively with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to protect legal, law-abiding citizens from criminal illegal aliens.” Cole is the first Missouri sheriff to receive the ARCU Defender Award. more

Darcy May DeWaard, age 7, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away on July 30, 2025, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Darcy was born on Nov. 21, 2017, in Branson, Mo., to Joshua James DeWaard and Ashley May Reich-DeWaard. She was raised in Ozark and attended Tiger Paw Preschool and Ozark South Elementary, where she was a bright and loving student preparing to enter second grade. more

The Missouri Public Service Commission held a hearing in the Nixa City Council Chambers on Tuesday, July 22, over a proposed increase of nearly 34 percent in the rates that Liberty Utilities (LU) charges their customers. An estimated 120 people attended the hearing. more
