John Henry Edmiston, 79, of Ozark, Mo., passed away on Sept. 9, 2025. He was born on March 17, 1946, to Paul and Martha Edmiston. more
Michael Edward Pace passed away on September 11, 2025, from complications related to Acute Myeloid Leukemia, a disease he had bravely battled and had been in remission from. He was a fighter to the end. An arrest warrant has been issued for a Springfield man a little over a year after he allegedly killed a Clever woman in a traffic crash. Daniel Drewry, 77, is charged with second-degree involuntary manslaughter in the death of Bobbie Ogle, 33, of Clever. more
Two Nixa High School students were named as semifinalists in the 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program on Wednesday, Sept. 10. Seniors Deakin Clover and Dalton Jones are two of some 16,000 high school students who were named as semifinalists in the program. The 16,000 comprise less than one percent of the high school students in the nation. more

A Clever woman has been charged in the death of an infant whose body was found in an Iowa City landfill in December of 1992. Cindy Sue Elder, 58, faces a charge of first-degree murder in the baby’s death. more

On Wednesday, Sept. 10, the conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was killed by an assassin’s bullet while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. Not long afterwards, Dr. Chris Rispoli, co-owner of the Gentle Care Animal Hospital in Edmond, Okla., made a social media post disparaging Kirk and suggesting that other people like him would also be killed. Several people reacted angrily to Rispoli’s post. However, some of those responding to Rispoli directed their anger at the Gentle Care Animal Hospital in Nixa, a veterinary clinic that has the same name as Rispoli’s but is not affiliated with them.  more
The Christian County Children's Charities Sertoma Club held the Sertoma Oktoberfest on the square in Ozark on Saturday, Sept. 13. The event included vendor booths, games, food, live music, and a beer garden. more
