The Nixa Chamber of Commerce held the NIXPO Business Showcase in the Nixa High School gymnasium and commons area on Saturday, March 22. About 100 vendors, including area businesses and organizations, had booths at the event, which gave attendees a chance to learn more about the businesses, organizations, and services available in the area. NIXPO also featured a raffle with $1,000 in prizes, a bounce house, games hosted by individual vendors, a blood drive, and more.

The Nixa Chamber of Commerce welcomed two businesses as new members of the Chamber with ribbon-cutting ceremonies on Wednesday, March 19. The first ribbon cutting was held at Smoke-N-Sizzle, a barbecue wholesale and supply store. Owner Chris Barr said that they sell smokers, wood pellets, rubs and sauces, and “everything you need to be a backyard champion.”

What a beautiful weekend! There was just not enough time to be outside. Of course, when one is out on a farm, you can count on work to be done. I don't know how one can think of so many things to done all at one time. It is a good plan, but the energy wears down too quickly. That does leave a plan for the next pretty day. I was looking forward to the rain the weatherman said we might get. None here.

NIXA, MO - The Christian County Friends of the Library voted to establish a $15,000 library staff and professional development scholarship fund during its March General Member meeting. The fund will cover professional development and conference attendance costs including conference fees, hotel, travel, and food.

On Tuesday, April 8, Christian County residents will go to the polls to cast their votes in a series of elections to determine who will hold office in local bodies of government, such as their Board of Aldermen or Board of Education. For over 50 years, a huge oak tree stood near the corner of our house. Two oak trees had grown together at the trunk many years ago. It was massive in circumference and stood over 80 feet tall. The shade over our house and the oxygen it produced were invaluable to us. The fall colors added beauty to our yard.

Ronald Wehling, of Nixa, Missouri., passed away on March 12, 2025, at the age of 89. He was born on April 24, 1935, in Beecher, Illinois., to Elmer and Margaret Wehling. Ronald grew up in Beecher and graduated from Beecher High School before attending the University of Illinois in Champagne, Illinois.
