Lady Jays' Flood collects pair of Sectional championships

Clever picked up four first-place finishes in Class 3 Sectional action at Mountain Grove on Saturday and will be represented at the Class 3 State Meet in 14 events.

The Lady Jays’ Jayleign Flood won the 400 (59.27). She set a PR and school record.

Riley Britton, Brylie Hicks, Valerie Cowles and Flood were first in the 4 x 400 relay (4:10).

Maliya Clark won the triple jump (37-10 1/4) and finished second in the 100 hurdles (15.94) and long jump (17-3 1/2).

Cowles was second in the high jump (5-3).

The Lady Jays’ 4 x 200 relay of Cowles, Sydney Bollenbach, Clark and Flood was also second (1:45).

Flood was third in the 200 (26.63). Cowles was third in the 300 hurdles (46.98). For Cowles, her time was a PR and school record.

On the boys side, Xavier Robinson was first in the high jump (6-5 1/2) and the Jays’ 4 x 400 relay Gage Evans, Matthew Edge, Robinson and Lucas Peebles finished first (3:28).

Robinson set a PR and school record.

Peebles was runner-up in the 400 and set a PR (50.73).

Elijah Bussard took third in the triple jump (41-0 1/4).

Evans was fourth in the 300 hurdles and set a PR (41.13).

Bryan, Hansen Sectional champs

In Class 2 Sectional action at Blue Eye, Spokane’s Sydney Bryan finished first in the 300 hurdles (47.26). She won by more than two full seconds.

Sparta’s Penelope Hansen won the shot put (36-2 1/4).

Bryan was second in the 200 (26.59) and 100 hurdles (16.90).

The Lady Owls’ 4 x 400 relay took third (4:29), as did Madeline Hardee in the javelin (101-9).

Sparta’s 4 x 800 relay finished third (10:45).

Billings' Clark sweeps 100, 200

In Class 1 Sectional action at Mountain Grove, Billings’ Kameron Clark won the 100 (11.35) and 200 (23.26) and the Wildcats’ 4 x 100 relay finished first (45.87).

Billings’ Grant Heimer was a runner-up in the javelin (149-10).

Chadwick’s Tristan Smith was first in the long jump (21-9 3/4).

On the girls side, the Lady Cardinals’ Macy Landry was second in the 3,200 (12:58).

Emily Landry was third in the 1,600 (5:39).

Chadwick’s 4 x 800 relay was second (10:19) and its 4 x 400 relay third (4:25).
