Missouri is one of only a few states that still offers free access to all state parks and historic sites. The average Missourian contributes roughly $20 per year through the Parks, Soils and Water sales tax. That is less than the cost of a single park entrance fee in many states. This ballot measure has passed every year it has been on the ballot since 1984. Most times it has passed with a two-thirds majority, or greater.

Our Friendship Club had a short meeting Monday morning to update a few activities. Then, a few of us made a drive down H Highway to Forsyth to try out a new small cafe. Some of the members had other commitments. Our 2026 Railroad Day was a success and plans are being made to improve for next year. We have been wearing the t-shirts that my granddaughter, Joey, designed. She will even improve for next year. She is around me and the history of Chadwick, so I am sure the next will include more of that. She can dig into all the books around here for ideas.
