Nixa Journalism earned a top George H. Gallup award from the Quill & Scroll International Honor Society for High School Journalists. This places Nixa High School among the top ten schools in the nation for high school journalism, according to Quill & Scroll's rankings. Nixa's student-produced news magazine, Wingspan, the broadcast news program EagleAir TV, along with NixaJournalism.net and the NHS Journalism Instagram account were judged on the five categories of General Practices, Coverage, Writing and Editing, Visuals, and Digital. The attached judge's critique includes constructive feedback on each category. more

Forty-nine Nixa High School students were selected for the South Central All-District Honor choir during auditions held on Sept. 19. Twenty-five were chosen for the 9–10 Honor Choir, and 24 were picked for the 11–12 Honor Choir. Sixteen also earned a top-25 distinction in their voice part, making them eligible to audition for the Missouri All-State Choir. more

Last year was Christian County's first year to participate, and Christian County had two nominees for the Top Twenty Missouri Residents honored as the state's Most Engaged Neighbors for 2025. Due to ongoing dry conditions, increased fire danger, and current weather forecasts, Christian County has issued a countywide burn ban effective immediately. The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including the burning of brush, debris, and other combustible materials, until further notice. County officials are taking this precautionary measure to reduce the risk of wildfires that could threaten lives, property, and natural resources. County officials, emergency responders and local fire departments are urging residents to use extreme caution with any activities that could produce sparks or open flames. more

Surrounded by members of the Nixa City Council and City Hall staff, Mayor Jarad Giddens prepares to cut the ribbon at a ceremony celebrating the completion of the Nixa City Hall remodel. The remodel, which was paid for with ARPA funds, increased work space for the staff at City Hall, as well as the City Council chambers.
