The Christian County Sheriff's Office was actively involved in the capture of a man who allegedly murdered his pregnant wife and unborn son. According to a press release by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sidney F. Wilson, V, of Stoutland, Mo., was captured at a Nixa address on Thursday, July 31, by the member of Operation Relentless Pursuit, with assistance from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, the U.S. Marshals, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office. more
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) describes itself as a service organization and benefits greatly from the volunteer efforts of its members. The organization has approximately 3,000 chapters that exist worldwide. Founded in 1890 as a female-only organization, the DAR clarified in October 2023 that "a transgender woman can join the DAR." Then President General Pamela Rouse Wright emphasized this membership policy by stating in 2023, "We will continue to welcome them in our society." more
Christian County Sheriff Brad Cole was recently presented with the Defender Award by the American Constitutional Rights Union (ACRU). According to a press release from the ARCU, the award is given to law enforcement officers who “honor their constitutional oath to protect and to serve by working cooperatively with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to protect legal, law-abiding citizens from criminal illegal aliens.” Cole is the first Missouri sheriff to receive the ARCU Defender Award. more

Darcy May DeWaard, age 7, of Ozark, Missouri, passed away on July 30, 2025, at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Darcy was born on Nov. 21, 2017, in Branson, Mo., to Joshua James DeWaard and Ashley May Reich-DeWaard. She was raised in Ozark and attended Tiger Paw Preschool and Ozark South Elementary, where she was a bright and loving student preparing to enter second grade. more

For the second consecutive year, Ozark’s Tiger Paw Early Childhood Center received a grant allowing families to save money. Valued up to $780,000, the grant will pay tuition for students who will enter kindergarten in the 2026-27 school year. more

A competitive grant program, the Food Insecure Cost-Share Grant will fund projects that support farmers markets and other economic development initiatives that work to reduce food insecurity in Missouri. more
