Bobby Rex Kindrick, age 81 of Ozark, passed away Sept. 18, 2026. He was born Aug. 17, 1945, the son of Elmer and Velma (Ash) Kindrick. more
Donald Lee Sayre was the youngest of three boys born to John Ray and Evelyn Sayre in St. Augustine, Florida, on Dec. 25, 1946. After graduating from high school in Stockton, Mo., Donald served four years in the United States Marine Corps. He later continued his military service in the Navy Reserves, Army Reserves, and Army National Guard. more

The Christian County Chronicle (Issue #5, September/October) is now available to all Christian County residents. The newsletter is produced by Brenda Porterfield in the County Commission Office. The publication was conceived and developed by Presiding Commissioner Lynn A. Morris, who believes it serves as another effective way to keep citizens informed about county government and community issues. more

The Christian County Lions Club made donations to elementary art instructors in four Christian County schools. The teachers at the Chadwick and Sparta elementary schools received their donations on Wednesday, Sept. 9, and the teachers at the Clever and Billings elementary schools on Friday, Sept. 11. Each teacher received a $50 check to use to purchase art supplies for their students. more

Morgan Industrial Technology (MIT) will break ground on a new 15,000 square foot facility in Ozark on Wednesday, Sept. 30, with construction to begin in October and to be completed by Fall of 2027. more
The historic old Dr Pepper clock that has been visible on the Ozark square most likely since the early 1960s. It was in the late 1950s and early 1960s that the Dr Pepper Company made changes in their advertising by removing the period after ‘Dr’ and doing away with their ’10, 2, & 4’ slogan and switching to ‘The Friendly Pepper Upper.’ more

Ozark, Mo. – The Christian County University of Missouri Extension recognized the 2026 Missouri Century Farms program inductee from Christian County, the Hanafin family, on Sept. 8th at the MU Extension Farm Family Celebration. The event was hosted by the Christian County MU Extension Council and was held at the Ozark High School Innovation Center. The evening included a meal served by the council members and special recognition for the Century Farm family. more
National Good Neighbor Day is September 28, 2026. Last year was Christian County's first year to participate, and Christian County had two nominees for the Top Twenty Missouri Residents honored as the state's Most Engaged Neighbors for 2025. Due to ongoing dry conditions, increased fire danger, and current weather forecasts, Christian County has issued a countywide burn ban effective immediately. The burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including the burning of brush, debris, and other combustible materials, until further notice. County officials are taking this precautionary measure to reduce the risk of wildfires that could threaten lives, property, and natural resources. County officials, emergency responders and local fire departments are urging residents to use extreme caution with any activities that could produce sparks or open flames. more
Did you see the story on Facebook about a lady in Alaska who went to the outhouse, and when she sat down, she heard a growl, and something bit her? When her husband heard her screams and came running, a very stinky black bear came out from under the outhouse and ran into the woods. more
The Ozark High School Alumni Association will be honoring the graduating classes of 1941 – 1979 at their annual reunion on Oct. 10. This year’s banquet will be held at the Ozark Junior High School, 1109 W. Jackson St., Ozark (across from Pizza Hut). The doors will open at 3:30 p.m. for tours of the facility until 4:45 p.m. For those not wishing to take the tour, this will allow time for visiting with fellow classmates. Dinner seating will begin at 4:30 p.m. Our meal, catered by Dining By Design, and our program will start at 5 p.m. Cost per person is $25 and reservations must be received by Sept. 26. more

The City of Billings had its 60th annual Community Fair on Friday, Sept. 4 and Saturday, Sept. 5. The event included a parade, craft exhibition, car show, a truck and tractor pull and more. The fair royalty was also crowned during the festival. They were: Julia Tutterow, fair queen and junior candidate; Audrew Reeves, fair princess; Maggie McGill, freshman candidate and runner up; Andi Bellamy, sophomore candidate, and Kyra Baker, senior candidate. Caylie Mooney was the flower girl, and Quinton Fox was the ring bearer. more
The Clever Band Boosters held their 20th annual Car and Truck Show on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Clever High School. The show drew about 1,000 attendees and had 276 cars, motorcycles and trucks on display. There was also a silent auction with $5,300 in donated items, including gift baskets, as well as a model car show. All proceeds went to support the Clever High School Band program. more
James Carroll Cypret passed away Sept. 6, 2026. He was born July 4, 2026 in Springfield, the son of Nathaniel and Jailyn (Drew) Cypret. more
